China’s Forced Abortion Policy in International Spotlight

Washington, D.C. – Today, Live Action praised human rights activist Chen Guangcheng whose escape from house arrest and call to the United States has put the spotlight on his home country’s one-child policy which has led to women being forced into abortions, usually under great duress. The group called on China, in light of recent events, to reverse course on its policy.

“The brave actions of Chen Guangcheng have revealed to the world the disturbing practices that are going on in China– including forced and sex-selective abortions,” said Lila Rose, Founder and President of Live Action. “China’s one-child policy has had devastating effects on their country and is a direct attack on the dignity of the human person and the dignity of women. Women are pressured to abort their little girls and if they refuse, they are forced to have an abortion or can be forcibly sterilized.

“We cannot allow this violation of human rights and violence against women to continue. The United States and the international community must pressure China to stop its assault on women and their unborn children.”

Hillsdale College free Constitution course.

Hillsdale College is offering a free, ten-week online course on the Constitution. Their goal is to have one-million people take the course.

Having just finished the course I can tell you that I learned much from the content. I disagreed only on a couple of points. They are of the opinion that the Anti-Federalists were against the Constitution, for example, because they were for slavery. George Clinton writing as “Cato” complained in his third letter to the New York Journal in 1787, “The people who may compose this national legislature from the southern states, in which, from the mildness of the climate, the fertility of the soil, and the value of its productions, wealth is rapidly acquired, and where the same causes naturally lead to luxury, dissipation, and a passion for aristocratic distinction; where slavery is encouraged, and liberty of course less respected and protected;…” He argued under the new Constitution, “…that the slave trade is, to all intents and purposes permanently established…” in his fifth letter.

Most of the Anti-Federalist, in fact, were from New York and Connecticut and other states that were “free States” at the time.

In addition you can download portions of their Constitution Reader. You can also order a copy of the book. The course section on the growth of the progressive movement is particularly interesting.

The course does not delve into the mechanics of the Constitution itself, but the history and the words of the founding fathers. It is a great place to get started on your own research of the Constitution.

Obama Stimulus Dollars Funded Soros Empire

Newly recently released tax documents reveal how billionaire “philanthropist” George Soros expanded his U.S.-based empire by using funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as the Obama stimulus. Soros and Obama worked hand-in-glove through the stimulus, which has been called the largest single partisan wealth transfer in American history.

In 2010, tax records show that Soros, a convicted inside trader with extensive knowledge of the American financial system and government policies under Obama, deployed grantees from his Open Society Foundations1 to lobby for and acquire federal contracts for job training, green energy, and community redevelopment programs. By gaining control over those resources, Soros advanced his agenda for “green economics,” open borders, and increased government handouts. In short, he grew his empire, which includes much of the “progressive” movement in the U.S., as the federal government and Obama’s political constituencies grew in power and influence.

Newsletter not working

The newsletter plugin that we have installed is not working. It sends an email for every entry instead of allowing for a message brief every week or so. Also, the plugin does not reject sign-ups that do not confirm their sign-up via email. I might try to create one of my own later. However, current plans are to uninstall this program and delete all sign-ups unless we receive emails that people do not mind receiving several messages a day if we have a big news day.

Putin pledges 400 ICBMs for Russia in 10 years

(2/22/12)—Russia’s armed forces will receive over 400 modern intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), more than 100 military spacecraft and over 2,300 new tanks within the next 10 years, Prime Minister and presidential candidate Vladimir Putin said.

Earlier media voiced fears that by 2020, Russia’ ICBM arsenal could reduce by more than half as over 400 missiles would go beyond their maximum service life without timely replacement.

“Within the next decade, the armed forces will receive more than 400 modern ground- and sea-based intercontinental ballistic missiles, eight ballistic missile submarines, about 20 general purpose attack submarines, over 50 surface ships and some 100 military-purpose spacecraft,” Putin wrote in a new article for the Rossiiskaya Gazeta government daily.

Delaware attorney general strips county sheriffs of arrest powers

Sheriff Jeff Christopher of Sussex County, Delaware, when he was elected to the office in 2010, thought he was handpicked by the people to represent them as the highest-ranking law officer in the county. Instead, he has found himself in the middle of a fight for the future of American law enforcement as a result of a nationwide effort to abolish the sheriff’s office altogether.

This time it is Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden, son of Vice President Joe Biden, sending out mandates to commissioners informing them that their sheriffs no longer have arrest powers. In an opinion released Feb. 24, State Solicitor L.W. Lewis said that neither the state nor the common law grants arrest powers to the county sheriffs.

Man Obtains Attorney General Eric Holder’s Ballot Just by Asking for It, No ID Required

Apparently Holder wasn’t using it.

In a shocking new video, James O’Keefe’s Project Veritas demonstrates to the Attorney General of the United States, Eric Holder, just why he should be concerned about lack of voter ID laws – by walking into Holder’s voting precinct and showing the world that anyone can obtain Eric Holder’s ballot. Literally.

The video shows a young man entering a Washington, DC polling place at 3401 Nebraska Avenue, NW, on primary day of this year – April 3, 2012 – and giving Holder’s name and address. The poll worker promptly offers the young man Holder’s ballot to vote.

Holder has maintained that voter fraud is not a major problem in the United States, and that voter ID would not curb voter fraud in any case.
