Coconino County is about to increase your property taxes again! Foreclosures are drying up their spending stash. Had enough yet? Hold on, we’re not through yet, there’s more coming. The Williams School District will be floating their undying bonds issue this fall about the same time the Libs at Coconino County propose to raise your property taxes. Here it comes folks! When will WE take a stand and demand no more taxation!? Elections for Coconino County Supervisors is coming in 2012!
The Coconino County Board of Supervisors shall levy taxes at a Special Meeting on Tuesday, August 9th, 2011, at 10:00 am in the County Administrative Center First Floor Meeting Room, 219 East Cherry, Flagstaff, Arizona.
Flood Control District
The Flood Control District is a secondary taxing district that covers all incorporated and unincorporated areas of the County, excluding the incorporated city/towns of Flagstaff, Page, and Fredonia.
The current Flood Control District tax rate is $0.2000 per $100 of assessed valuation. The maximum allowable rate is $0.5000 per $100 of assessed valuation. On August 9th, 2011 the County Board of Supervisors will vote to set the tax rate between the current rate and the maximum allowable rate. The Flood Control District tax rate was set at $0.4000 per $100 of assessed valuation for the FY12 Tentative Budget, which is scheduled to be adopted on June 14th, 2011. The following table shows the impact of the tax increase on a home valued at $200,000.
Due to a decline in assessed valuations from FY11, the net average increase in total County taxes for a property in the Flood Control District will be $20, or 8% of the County levy.
Coconino County expects to continue to have the lowest primary property tax rate of all counties in the State of Arizona. We will remain in the lowest 1/3 of counties statewide based on all primary and secondary district County tax rates. Properties not in the Flood Control District will be taxed at the 2nd lowest rate for all counties in Arizona.

This tax, and the calculation of the tax rate, is mandated by Statute. Fire District Assistance Taxes are levied to support County Fire Districts.
