Nice superficial touch by Gov. Brewer. Now if we can get her serious about true substance issues in light of her veto’s this week to SB1088,SB1593 and SB1467, we might make some progress aligned with a good state legislature!

(AP) — Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has signed three bills for 11 new special license plates, including one to commemorate the tea party.

She acted on the license plate bills late Thursday.

The tea party plate would feature the “Don’t Tread On Me” slogan, rattlesnake emblem and yellow background of the historic Gadsden Flag that is a symbol of the movement.

The Legislature completed action April 26 on the bill authorizing the tea party plate.

In the run-up to approval, opponents said the tag inappropriately promotes a specific political movement. Supporters said it’s meant to stand up for constitutional principles.

Supporters now must raise $32,000 to design and produce the plate.
