Looking over the Rasmussen Reports polls, today, one would get the idea that Americans seem to be muddle-headed.
One poll shows that views of Obama’s leadership style has rebouned from an all-time low last month. 44% Rate Obama’s Leadership As Good or Excellent. Only 37% Say It’s Poor.
“In terms of style, 15% now say the president’s leadership style is too confrontational, while 31% view it as too cooperative. A plurality (40%) of voters, however, say the president’s leadership style is about right. Fourteen percent (14%) are undecided,” the article states.
Yet, Americans seem to have a less optimistic view of a long-term recovery. Another Rasmussen Reports poll shows that 46% of American adults think that the economy will be better in five-years. This is the lowest percentage since the polling company began asking the question in January of 2009. Well after two-years of no recovery and debt from Obamacare and other Communist programs looming, what result would one expect?
Thirty-one percent of voters give Obama a favorable rating on the economy according to another of their national telephone surveys. Forty-five percent say the president is doing a poor job handling these issues.
I have lower expectations because we still have one very serious problem. We have something called a Federal Reserve which is doing the Article I, Section 8, Clause 2 & 5 duty that “We the People” assigned to the Congress of the United States of America. We do have a slim ray of hope of getting some information about where taxpayers money is being spent by the fed. It is sort of a “hole in the dike” situation, though, which might get plugged up if Bernake can get his finger into it in time.
In the two months since Republicans took control of the house, their telephone survey shows that Republicans are more trusted in nine of ten of what Rasmussen Reports considers important issues. 47% trust Republicans in the matter of the economy while only 39% trust Democrats. Republican hold a slim margin in health care trust 46% to 42% for Democrats. Social Security is the only area where Republicans do not hold more trust than Democrats. They each got 41%. A tie is the best the Democrats could do.
If the Republicans could have managed to take the Senate, we might have seen an override on the moritorium on off-shore drilling and drilling in the States that have massive reserves, such as Alaska and Montana and North Dakota.
There is only one reason for carbon taxes and oil drilling moratoriums and it has nothing to do with the imaginary global warming, John McCain. It is only to destroy the industry in this country. That is why the government has stolen the last great industry America enjoyed–the auto industry–and sold parts of it to Italy. That is why the government has taken over health care. The government should not be in the business of business.
The economy will never recover until the government returns to the Constitutional mandate that it was given.
